Library Location and Catalog

Welcome to Champlain Valley Unitarian Universalist Society's library catalog. During our building project, library materials will be housed temporarily in different locations, including Fenn House and the meeting room near the entrance of the new building. The library's permanent location will be conveniently adjacent to the fellowship hall on the lower level of the new building.

To search the library catalog, use the pull-down menu above to specify your search terms. Toward the upper left there are three different options for viewing search results: Item, List, or Shelf view. List view is sortable. Currently, in a search result list, the information about circulation status is not accurate because we are not yet using this system for book sign-out. You’ll have to check shelves directly to see whether the book you want is in or out. If you can’t find what you want, contact the Library Committee via the church office.

Library Wish Lists and Book Donations

CVUUS Library needs and welcomes your support! Celebrate a special person or significant event by donating a book to the library or by making a contribution to the CVUUS Library Fund. The Library maintains a children’s book wish list at Amazon. If you would prefer to donate a book that you purchase locally, you can easily check the library catalog to determine whether it’s already in the Library’s collection. We also welcome used books and audio-visual materials of interest to UU readers, either to add to our Library or to sell at the Booktable or tag sale for the Library's benefit. Donated material should be in good, non-moldy condition.

CVUUS Booktable, Bookstores

To help support CVUUS Library and for the convenience of members and friends, CVUUS also offers UU-interest books for personal purchase at the book sale table, aka the Booktable. Also to benefit the library, we maintain an online bookshop. Most searches and purchases, book and non-book, via this widget will support CVUUS Library as well, if you can't find an item locally:

Reading Lists and Discussion Groups

Our minister often leads book discussion groups for adults on topics UU- interest. Watch the CVUUS calendar on our web site for details or contact the church office to receive announcements. In the meantime, explore recommended reading via some of our basic reading lists.

Attention CVUUS Staff, Board, Committee Members, and Lay Leaders

If you purchase books, curricula, or audio-visual materials for CVUUS, please check the library catalog first to avoid ordering duplicate materials unless you need multiple copies. Also, please forward information about new book, curricula, or audio-visual purchases to the Library Committee member so that materials can be cataloged. In addition to avoiding unintentional duplication, this will also help identify where CVUUS resources are housed. To transfer new-acquisition information to the Library Committee, leave a copy of purchase orders, packing slips, invoices, or title/author/publisher details in the Library’s mail folder. If you need help ordering books for your committee or group contact the Library Committee.
